Located on the Cumbrian coast, Calder House provides bed and breakfast accommodation overlooking Seascale beach. Just 10 minutes' drive from the Lake District National Park, the hotel offers a comfortable and scenic base for your stay.
This family-run business, taken over by Elaine in 2022 with help from her son Adam, offers a welcoming and homely atmosphere. The hotel was originally built in 1884 as a first-class girls' boarding school and remained a school until its closure in 1957.
We offer a newly renovated bar and restaurant with sea views, free parking, and Wi-Fi. Each room is equipped with a flat-screen TV, tea and coffee facilities, and an en suite shower, with some rooms featuring a bath in addition to the shower. A full English breakfast is served each morning.
Seascale is perfect for walkers and cyclists, and the hotel is situated just 10 miles from Wasdale Valley and Wastwater Lake, with Scafell Pike nearby. Coniston Water and Lake Windermere are around an hour’s drive away.
Dog-Friendly: We're a dog-friendly hotel and welcome your furry companions in our bar and beer garden. However, if you wish to stay at the hotel with your dog, please call the hotel first before booking to confirm availability and any pet-related arrangements.
Enjoy a peaceful stay with us and experience the charm of the Cumbrian coast.
